The Learning Safari
Reading: This week we will read two stories in our reading books-A Big Job p. 172-179 and Sweet Potato Pie p. 180-197. There will be a vocabulary test and comprehension test on Thursday.
Skills for the Week: short o sound, inflected endings
–s and -ing, cause and effect
Sight Words: by, eat, sing, stop, them
Writing: The students will continue to write simple sentences using the correct word order.
Math: We begin Chapter 6: Subtraction Strategies.
Science: We will discuss the life cycle of the pumpkin plant and make pumpkin observations.
Social Studies: We will finish the unit “Our Community.”
Wild about words:
We will have a spelling test on the following words on
Friday: hot, not, got, mop, hop, top, stop, eat, by, them
Swinging into Fun
Money- Please remember that all money needs to be in an envelope with the student’s name, amount, and what it is for listed on the outside.
Ice Cream- Students will be allowed to buy ice cream on TUESDAYS. Ice cream will be $0.60. Please put your child’s name and the correct change in an envelope if they will be purchasing it. Students must display good behavior and complete classwork to purchase ice cream.
October Reading logs will be due on Thursday, October 28th in order to receive a Book-It Coupon for a free Personal Pan Pizza from Pizza Hut.
